2013 - A group of concerned individuals in Central Oregon had a shared vision to help families who have a child with cancer and began working together to create a non-profit organization. This vision was quickly embraced by Tour des Chutes and Central Oregon Pediatric Associates who agreed to provide the funding and resources to get started.

2014 - Tour des Chutes hosted the inaugural COPA Family 5K Run/Walk for Kids With Cancer. The organization applied for non-profit status. Pediatric Foundation met with its first families and distributed grants through the Tour des Chutes organization.

2015 - Pediatric Foundation is approved by the IRS for non-profit status as a 501(c)(3). It ramped up communications and services to serve more families in need, received its first official grants from founding donors and began to reach out to help more families. As of 2017 Pediatric Foundation is actively serving all children with cancer who live in the Central Oregon region.

2017 - The board of directors approved a strategy to explore the potential to expand services to children throughout the state of Oregon and beyond. The need is great, and we are working to fill that need.

Founding Sponsors

  • Tour Des Chutesis a renowned annual cycling event that has raised money for over a decade to serve adult cancer survivors in Central Oregon. In 2014, they generously donated the funds required to create Pediatric Foundation, thereby expanding their mission to include children with cancer. The annual Tour des Chutes also hosts a 5K Fun Run for Kids with Cancer, and is our largest fundraising event.
  • Central Oregon Pediatric Associates [COPA] is the largest pediatric practice in the region with doctors who are committed to the health and welfare of all Central Oregon children. COPA coordinates the medical support for local children with cancer, cooperating closely with pediatric oncologists in Portland and across the USA.
